what effect did it have on their hair. Did it take and did it stay in. I love the African American styles that are easy care but I have very fine straight hair.

Caucasian hair can be locked, but it may take a while, especially since your hair is fine. It can also be twisted. i have seen both styles. I would try the twists first, before committing to locs.

With locks (African American or Caucasian), you can't just walk into a salon and walk out with locs. What you walk out with are called starters. And you go back to the salon to get re-twists about every 2 weeks (maybe 4 or 6 weeks, depending on your hair and your budget). It takes the hair a while to loc, anywhere from 3 months to a year, depending on your hair and how you take care of it.

You might also want to take into consideration that you are not supposed to wash your hair during the locking process. There are also many different ways to start locs and different types of locs. Once you figure out what is right for you, you can go to a loctician who will help you in your loc journey.

Hope this helps.

If you have long hair, you can definatly get cornrolls put in it. My daughter had it done before the beach and it stayed in just fine, no washing/drying....just bubble some shampoo in your hands and rub the suds on your head carefully not to pull them out. Its a painful and sometimes lengthy process...but she kept hers in for about a month.

Whatever you do dont get it dread locked, it will ruin your hair....i had a friend who did it and she ended up having to shave her head.

I wouldn't recommend getting dreadlocks put into your hair, due to the fact that it is very fine. The finer and straighter the hair the harder it is to lock. I would find an experienced person in your area to test it out. They can try to "lock" a portion of your hair in the back of your head and see it if will look right and stay locked.

As for twists I say just becareful with the size of the twists, too large and it may not look right, too small and it may make you look bald (due to the texture of your hair). And it you do want them to twist your hair, have them use beeswax to seal the style so that way you can easily wash it out when you want to.

I, too, have very fine, straight hair and I've been told it would not do well, but that was several years ago and they're always coming out with new %26amp; improved products. So call a trusted beautician and ask to see how it would do...you could also call a beauty school since they usually get the info on the newest products first. Good luck!
