Does wearing hats and scarves excessively stop your hair from growing?

I am asking this question because I am a young african american young lady who has locks but likes wrapping my hair in satin scarves. One day my barber, clipped the hair on the nape of my neck and the hair hasn't grown back fully on the nape of my neck. Should I stop wearing scarves?

Also, my hair is growing everywhere else but could it grow faster if I didn't have the hat and scarf on?

Doubt it makes any difference

It might be the scarf, or your hair might just grow back slowly.

I'd say if you enjoy the scarves a lot, then keep wearing them, but if you're too worried about hair loss, then stop wearing them.

I'm almost positive that it's been proven that it doesn't. Maybe its just your hair?

no they don't cause baldness but objects can thin your hair or wear it down for example wearing a watch all the time if you notice your hair isn't as thick or theres none at all anymore your receptor cells get used to familiar things and baldness is a sex linked trait and can only be passed from your mother usually to her son in most cases but if your really worried look at your mothers father and you will be able to tell if the sex linked trait for it is apparent.

Yes it could. But if you are wearing a hat or scarf to protect your hair from the wind then its a good thing because wind will break your hair off.

Does wearing hats and scarves excessively stop your hair from growing?

Yes, CONSTANTLY wearing a hat or scarf can cause damage to your hair which causes breakage. When you have a hat on your head, it causes friction between the contact of your hair and the hat. Constant friction between the two (from slight movements of your head) will cause breakage. It doesn't necessary, keep your hair from growing, it just causes damage and you can't see that your hair is growing because it's constantly breaking off.

Hope this information helps.
