It depends on the texture of their hair. I'm african american myself but my hair is probably thicker than theirs because of their mixed descent. It also depends on how old they are too, if they are older, like 12 or 13 years old, you might want to refrain from using the ball things because I know as alot of african american girls get older, they don't like to wear the ball things in their hair. It should work just fine if they are younger girls. Make sure that you go to a beauty supply store and buy a brush that is medium-hard so that you will be able to brush their hair into styles and buy hair grease as well. Try not to get a heavy thick hair grease because it will weigh the hair down and in my opinion it causes the hair to get dirtier faster. Oh yeah, DO NOT let them sleep with the ball things in their hair because they get tangled and are impossible to take out in the morning. For african american girls, hair shampoos such as dudley and greases like B%26amp;B work good but like I said before, it all depends on the texture of their hair. Lastly, to answer your last question, I get my hair done every two weeks but it's up to you when to wash their hair, it depends on if you can handle their hair after you wash it.....you might end up sending them to the hair dresser but that depends on how old they are. Anyways, I'm sure you'll do just fine and will be a great foster mom. Good Luck!

Hi, and thank you for your efforts to help little children who are in need. Please visit http://www.squidoo.com/black-hair-salon At this page you will find links to black hair salons, black hair care books, and black hair care products. I would look at the books first (there is a special section on black hair books dealing with children's hair), then move on to the products, and if you need more help, look for a black hair salon in your area. You can also ask me questions if you need any more help. You can contact me at http://www.black-hair-growth.info
