i am african american and for a while i had perms in my hair but i decided to go natural and get braids in my hair til it grows the perm falls out but my i've noticed while having braids hair that my hair grows pretty fast i have to get it done once a month (costly) so why isnt my hair at the length i want it shoulder?

i dont know why it wont stay long but you should wash it everyday and use coconut oil at nights

because you did not cut the perm out...a perm doesn't fall out, your hair breaks off because of the two different textures...if your hair is completely natural now and you haven't cut the perm ends off, you may have alot of split ends...also if the braids are not done properly it will cause your hair to have breakage
