Can I really get my hair to be thicker?

Mind you, I am African American and my mother and father both have thin hair.

Can I really get my hair to be thicker?

Do you have a perm???? African hair is not designed to be chemically treated (Permed/relaxed) and when we do, we break/distroy the natural protein-bonds in our hair. But there are ways to keep your perm but have healthy hair that grows. You just have to care for it the right way:

I use "Just For Me" kids relaxer (Im 21, but Mixed, so I can't use the strong adult African-American perms because they break my hair.) Its better to use a weaker perm for your hair than a really strong one. A perm/relaxer that is too stong is the major cause in hair weakness/breakage.

I also use "Motions CPR" Conditioning Treatment every week. After you wash your hair, use CPR, put a plastic cap on and sit under a hooded/bonnet hard-hat dryer for 10 mins, then wash it out. (This is Deep Conditioning) This is the BEST thing you can do for weak, thin or damaged hair... hint *CPR (Critical Repair and Treatment). It really does repair your hair and make it so much stronger and grow fast too. It also keeps your hair healthy even if it already is. It's great!!!

I get my hair straighten once every season (spring, fall, winter, summer) so thats also the same time I get my hair trimed. You need to trim your ends too. This is very important to slowly get rid of those dead/split ends which causes moisture lost. Split ends causes your hair to break, because if it cant properly hold moisture, then causes your hair cutiles to open wider and break. This makes hair thin from the loss of stands and stunks hair growth.

My hair is so thick, healthy %26amp; long from taking care of it and using the products below. I'll give you the links. You can find all of this at Wal-mart, Sally's, or any Black hair store.

Also our hair is made of protein (all protein), so you may want to look into your diet and make sure you are getting enough. Taking a women's multi-vitamin everday will make sure you are getting enough of it, along with calcium which our hair also loves. You have to take care of your hair from the inside and outside. Hair products take care of the outside. But you also have to check on the inside... your diet! to make sure your hair has what it even needs to grow and thicken.

I hope this is helpful to you.

Clipping the ends of your hair encourages it to grow faster. I also heard that taking prenatal pills helps alot. Don't know if it really works but you can try it and let me know.LOL I personally think that you should shampoo your hair once a week and moisturizes the ends every day. Use Pink Moisturizer. Especially the ends of hair. The scalp produces oils to naturally moisturize hair, but it does not reach to the ends of the hair, causing hair ends to split. Moisturizing everyday and especially the ends should stop hair from splitting and clipping the ends should encourage the hair to grow. Hope this helps.

I have very fine hair also, In the last year I have only relaxed my hair once. I figured the over processing of the hair made it seem thinner I also wash my hair every three days and moisturize my scalp. My stylist trims off the split ends, I was surprised because my hair did not get kinky at all its actually very silky. Whenever I want to wear a sleek style a warm flatiron will take out any waviness.

You can try taking a vitamin that has biotin and/ or pantothenic acid in it. I know for a fact that biotin thickens the hair stands and makes your hair grow as well. You can also try shampooing first with Nioxin for chemically treated hair, if you have a relaxer of hair color. If you use the Nioxin, be sure to follow up with a moisturizing shampoo afterwards because it can sometimes dry your hair out and feel stripped after using it.

apply peanut butter to it

Can I really get my hair to be thicker?

try getting a hair cut that makes your hair look thicker...i have thin hair but no matter what shampoo, gel, conditioner, etc nothing works just a good hair cut that makes my hair look thicker than it is

Can I really get my hair to be thicker?

no

Can I really get my hair to be thicker?

Yes, you can get your hair to look thicker and be thicker!

If you relax your hair---you may need to try using a relaxer that is for a child's hair...such as Just For Me...

Do not use a lot of different chemicals on your hair----whatever type of relaxer you use...use the same type of shampoo and conditioner...

Look past the simple rule of most black women not wnating to cut their hair....you have to keep your spilt ends cut off for your hair to grow faster, longer and thicker...

Try to not put a lot of heating elements such as blowdryers, curling iron, or straighteners on your hair...

When you wash your hair if you do not have a hooded dryer let your hair air dry...

Look past the old myth of black people not washing their hair but every two weeks or so....you can safely wash your hair every two to three days...but be sure to use a good condtioner after each shampoo...

Look at your local drug store for a vitamin called Biotin...this will help your nails and hair to grow healthier and plus it is safe to use..if you use it as directed...

The main key to healthy and beautiful hair is to treat it with a lot of love...do not use a lot of hair gel, sprays and grease on your hair this clogs the hair follicles and prevent the proper growth...if necessary but some oil sheen to spray your hair with and do not put it on the scalp....

Good luck!

No, but you can make it look thicker with the right hair care products and cut.

Can I really get my hair to be thicker?

Think long and hard about it first. I am white and have extremely thick hair. My daughter is mixed, and she got my thick hair. We thin our hair once a year, and when I say thin I mean to the root. If I don't thin and cut her hair short, we can't do anything with it. So she's never able to wear it down. As long as I condition it and keep it thinned out, her hair is so pretty.

I also use much more shampoo, conditioner, gels, grease, and anything else that needs to be put on her hair. It also takes me hours to do her hair. With it thinned out, I use 1/4 of the products and I can just brush it out and let it go natural.

So before you try to make it thicker, think about how much more work it's going to be to take care of it.

Can I really get my hair to be thicker?

look for shampoos that not only nourish, but thinken the hair.

Can I really get my hair to be thicker?

yup.you should a good thickening shampoo.

Can I really get my hair to be thicker?

Can I really get my hair to be thicker?

i use dove volumizing shampoo. it is good for fine, thin hair. alos, try to braid it right after you get out of the shower in little sections. take it out once your hair is dry (use a diffuser to dry it). it is curlier but the curls should give the appearance of more volume.

Can I really get my hair to be thicker?

no but you can make your hair have more volume

Natural remedies for plumping the hair shaft:

Rosemary is an excellent scalp stimulator. It unclogs hair follicles and allows new growth to "fill in" thin spots. You can buy essencial oil and add it to your shampoo, or apply it to a cotton ball and dab at the thin spots.

Also, check into the herb Senna- it is like henna with NO color. It fills and coats the hair shaft with extra protiens, giving it a full appearance, and it can be used with any chemicals and colors because it is natural and 100% clear. A simple internet research should tell you all you need to know.

Be wary of using any kind of mineral oil on your hair (even baby oil and silicone products) because the minerals will close off active hair follicles, causing your hair to thin. If you use oils, stick to a strictly organic one, such as jojoba, or coconut oil.

From my expirence African American's natuarlly have a hard time growing there hair out if it is the thin britttle kind. I do not believe that there is a way to thicken your hair even if you use the thinken products.....God gave you the amount of hair on you head and thats the way it was ment to be.

Can I really get my hair to be thicker?

Dont use curly iron too much because the heat will make your hair loose more. Do not dye your hair very often. Dont let your hair greasy. Also if you have thin hair and your hair grow slow you can always make wave/ fluf it.

Can I really get my hair to be thicker?

Use thickening shampoo.......if you can find any.

Can I really get my hair to be thicker?

Believe it or not, the old wise tale is that you can use Horse Shampoo on your hair and nails. It helps them to grow longer and stronger. It makes the hair grow thicker. My step-mother and I tried this years ago when we found this out and it really does work. :)

Can I really get my hair to be thicker?

I doubt it,you can use products that fluff up the hair.or keep it short.Or extensions maybe.

Can I really get my hair to be thicker?

I really don't know, but i have been trying to find a way to grow mine too. I have relaxed, every time new growth came up, which i know now is very bad and i did not like to trim my hair. But girl I would like to thank you alot for asking that question. Really, THANK YOU!, but do you know how much you should trim off?

Can I really get my hair to be thicker?
